Benefactor Advisory Committee

IITGN celebrates innovation and perseverance in every aspect of its academic culture. We are receptive to new ideas and constructive criticism to meet the expectations of our supporters, which have been steadily rising with every milestone we reach. The Benefactor Advisory Committee actively engages our significant benefactors with the Institute and its members share their success stories with our students. We invite you to be a member of this Committee by making a one-time contribution of Rs 20 lakhs (US$30,000) or more. Membership to this committee include such benefits as, naming of the activities initiated through your contributions, active participation in those activities, and announcement of your membership in our Annual Report. Professor A. V. Anilkumar is an aerospace engineer on the faculty at Vanderbilt University. He was a NASA investigator of microgravity fluid flow phenomenon on Space Shuttle flights and on the International Space Station. His current interests are in novel energy conversion systems for airplane flight using low altitude rocketry and the design and evaluation of renewable energy technologies. He has a BTech from IIT Madras and MS and PhD from Caltech.
Mr Gordhanbhai B Gelot has a post graduate degree in Industrial Microbiology from Gujarat University. He has been running a Small Scale Industrial (SSI) unit for ready-to-use clinical microbial analytical tools at GIDC Industrial Estate in Umargam since last 44 years. Prior to setting up the SSI, Shri Gordhanbhai B Gelot has also worked with American and French Pharma Multinational Corporations.
Dr Prabhakar Goel held positions in engineering and technical management with IBM and Wang Laboratories. In 1990 Dr Goel was recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” for New England by Inc magazine and Ernst Young. Since 1992 Dr Goel has been a private venture capitalist involved with several companies. Dr Goel is also a founding member of The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE). Dr Goel holds MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a BTech from IIT Kanpur where he was awarded the President’s Gold Medal for academic excellence.
Ms Asha Jadeja is wife of late Prof. Rajeev Motwani and head of the Rajeev Motwani Foundation. An IIT Kanpur and UC Berkeley graduate, Motwani was professor of Computer Science at Stanford University where he did pioneering research in web search, robotics, and theoretical computer science. Originally from Ahmedabad, Ms Jadeja did her graduate studies at USC, UC Berkeley, and Stanford. She is active in philanthropic educational initiatives in India and the USA. She has also been mentoring many successful start-ups in the Bay area.
Dr Arvind Jain is an internationally recognized authority in the aluminum industry with over 30 years of experience in the business. He founded AXJ Resources LLC, a metals and mining consulting company focused on aluminum, in 2013. Earlier he was Vice-President Strategy & Investments at Rio Tinto Alcan, in Montreal, Canada. Dr Jain holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University and a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the IIT Kharagpur. He has been at the forefront of the IIT alumni movement in the USA for the past 30 year and serves on the Board of Trustees of Northern Light School, Oakland, California, and chairs its Finance Committee.
Mr Atul Jain, Chairman & CEO of TEOCO, founded TEOCO in 1994 with the idea of principled entrepreneurship and employee ownership. TEOCO focuses on business ethics, with a particular emphasis on its core values of alignment with employees, clients and community. Today, TEOCO is a market leading global organization with operations on six continents providing cost, routing, revenue and network management solutions to top communications service providers worldwide.
Mr Maulik Jasubhai is the Chairman & Chief Executive of the Jasubhai Group which includes Jasubhai Engineering, Jasubhai Media, CHEMTECH Foundation & Jasubhai Foundation. He was the Founder CEO of Jasubhai Digital Media. Jasubhai Digital Media was a pioneering IT Media company with brands like Digit, Chip, Skoar and ZDNet.com. Maulik Jasubhai holds an undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the Wharton Business School. Mr Maulik Jasubhai is also the Honorary Consul of Austria in Mumbai.
Ms Anjali Joshi is Vice President of Product Management at Google, where she is working on defining new initiatives in the health space. Prior to Google, she has held senior position at Covad Communications, the first DSL Competitive Carrier in the US, and at AT&T Bell Labs. She received her Master’s degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from the State University of New York, and a BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur.
Mr Raj Mashruwala is an active angel investor through Mashruwala Investments and is mentor/advisor to several early start-up ventures. He is Director of the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund, Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneur (TiE), and Commissioner, Public Library, City of Palo Alto, USA. He holds a MS degree from UC Berkeley (1976) and BTech from IIT Bombay (1975). Among the technology companies he has co-founded are TIBCO Software, YieldUp International, Media Computer Technology, etc. Mr Mashruwala has an MS in Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay. Mashruwala is a founder of the IIT Gandhinagar Foundation in USA.
Mr Avi Nash is a former partner of Goldman Sachs, where he headed the Global Chemical Industry Group. He has advised many of the world’s leading chemical companies on strategy, acquisitions and corporate finance. He is a director of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation and serves as a trustee of several educational and charitable organizations. He earned an MBA from Northwestern University, an MS from Syracuse University and a BTech from IIT Mumbai.
Mr Nandan Nilekani, a graduate of IIT Bombay, is a visionary IT professional who headed the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) project of the Government of India. A co-founder of NASSCOM and Infosys Technologies Ltd, he served as the CEO of Infosys from 2002 to 2007. For his contribution to the country, Nilekani was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006. He is currently the non-executive chairman of Infosys.
Mr Bhikhubhai Patel is founder and Vice Chairman of Tarsadia Hotels, a leading hotel investment, development, and management company. He received his B. Com. degree from the University of Baroda (1963). After running a successful clothing manufacturing business in Zambia for 12 years, he moved to USA and started his hospitality business in 1976. He is currently President of the Sanatan Dharma Temple and Cultural Centre of Los Angeles. Patel is active in philantrophic causes.
Dr. Kiran C. Patel, a Tampa (Florida) based cardiologist, is founding Chairman of the Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel Foundation for Global Understanding, a non-profit organization that develops and funds a wide variety of programs in health, education, arts and culture. He supported the creation of the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Global Sustainability, at University of South Florida. He has served as the President of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and was appointed to the University of South Florida Board of Trustees by Florida's governor in 2003. He earned his MBBS in Medicine from BJ College, Ahmedabad and MD at Columbia University, New York in the field of Cardiology. He was awarded the "Gujarat Garima,” (2007), Ellis Island Medal of Honor for Exceptional Immigrant Patriots (2007) and inducted in the Tampa Bay Hall of Fame in 2010.
Mr Bhupen Shah has over 25 years of experience in technology development, product development, and engineering management in embedded digital media and communication solutions at Sling Media, Emuzed, Dazzle, RealChip, Philips Semiconductors, IBM, etc. Shah co-founded Sling Media, now part of Echostar, and is currently its Chief Technology Officer. He holds an MSc Degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Mr Bipin Shah holds an MS from the University of Wisconsin and a BEE (Honours) from Jadavpur University. He is CEO and Chairman of Kovair Software in Milpitas, California, which has a Development Center in Kolkata. He is active in several nonprofit organizations, including The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Ahimsa Center at California Polytechnic University in Pomona and the Cupertino Center of Northern California. Shah is a founder of the IIT Gandhinagar Foundation in USA.
Mr Raj Shah did his BTech from IIT Bombay and holds a Master’s degree from University of Wisconsin. Mr Shah brings unique combination of creative leadership, entrepreneurial success, management discipline, and global experience. An entrepreneur by nature, Mr Shah has held senior management positions in leading Silicon Valley technology firms. At Microsoft, he reenergized their online mapping services, and these mapping assets were acquired by Uber in June 2015. At Google, he spearheaded creation of Maps by establishing a global infrastructure that encompasses all countries mapped by Google from the groundup.
Shri Ukabhai Solanki, an electrical engineer by training, is president and CEO of Big Saver Foods, Inc., a large California grocery chain and a member of the Board of Directors of First Choice Bank. He is recipient of Progressive Grocer’s 2001 “Grocer of the Year” Award and Ernst & Young’s 2002 “Entrepreneur of the Year” award for greater Los Angeles. Shri Solanki’s expansive philanthropic contributions touch many educational causes in India and the United States. He is founding president of the Indian Council for the Advancement of Education in India and he endowed the Yadunandan Center for India Studies at California State University in Long Beach.
Mr Deepak Sultania, is the Director of Durga Bearings group, the largest distributor of bearings in India. Starting at an early age in business he has a rich and varied experience of 37 years in the bearing trade. With his great business acumen adn modern management practices he has turned his company from a small trading company to become a market leader, distibuting products of multinational bearing brands all over India. Mr Deepak has also been awarded the Samaj Ratna award for his philanthropic work in Mumbai, Rajasthan.
