Class Scholarship/ Batch Gift

Class Scholarships are created through collective contributions from alumni of a particular batch. When alumni from a class (for example, the Class of 20XX) together contribute a total of ₹10 lakh towards student support , the Institute matches this with an additional ₹10 lakh, creating an endowment of ₹20 lakh. Then  this endowment is used to award up to ₹1 lakh scholarship every year to IITGN students.

There are currently 5+ Class Scholarships in operation at IIT Gandhinagar.

Power of 5

Under the Power of 5 initiative, each scholarship is created through a simple five-step process: (1) an IIT Gandhinagar alumnus contributes ₹5 lakh, (2) a private donor matches this with ₹5 lakh, (3) the Institute further matches the combined amount with ₹10 lakh, (4) creating a total endowment of ₹20 lakh, and (5) then this endowment is awarded up to  ₹1 lakh scholarship each year to a deserving student through a transparent selection process.

We currently have 35+ Power of 5 Alumni-Endowed Scholarships.

Chetan Dhande Scholarship
by Fifteen BTech/ME/2013 Alumni

Chetan Dhande Scholarship is jointly established by fifteen BTech alumni of the class of 2013 in honor of late Chetan Dhande (BTech/ME/2013). This scholarship of upto ₹ 1 lakh per year will support undergraduate students at IITGN.

Chetan Dhande was a Class of 2013 BTech Mechanical Engineering undergraduate. After graduation, he worked at Honda Cars India for two and a half years and at Honda R&D Japan for two years. Unfortunately, he passed away on February 10, 2018, in a hiking incident leaving a void in every person lucky enough to interact with him.

Fondly remembered by everyone around him as just “Dhande”, his friends and family cherish him for his helpfulness, patience, and wisdom. Above all, he was one of those people who, once focused on something, would commit their body and soul to it.

“It is said that no one is ever really gone when there are people who remember them. It is with this thought in mind that we honor his spirit. Even though his time with us was short, he touched the very core of our souls, and in turn, left lessons for us all. Many people have “passions”. But he was someone who followed through on his passion. And excelled at them. May his perseverance, rapt attention, kindness and inexhaustible joie de vivre continue to inspire us all”

We thank all the below Alumni patrons of this scholarship that supports IITGN and hope that this scholarship will have a strong impact on the undergraduate student beneficiaries.
